Out of the Dark

The Sumatran tiger is a subspecies of tiger found on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. The wild population is estimated at between 400 and 500 animals, occurring predominantly in the island's national parks. Recent genetic testing has revealed the presence of unique genetic markers, which isolate Sumatran tigers from all mainland subspecies.

Awesome and dramatic, a wonderful capture of the anticipation and intensity of the eyes.
The striking fur pattern reminds me of ancient script.

I don't have many images of the Tigers at Chester Zoo mainly because their so damn difficult to capture owing to the fencing, they do have glass panels but again the damn thing never pass by them while I'm there ahaa... Cheers mate I'm very pleased you liked them.

I think you have done an excellent job here mate, it's a very nice angle of him and the lighting worked really well.. it's so hard to get a shot of the Tigers in the conditions we face and they usually only work straight on. I see what you mean about the title and I agree, it's the first thing that pops into your mind as soon as you see the image, we must have artistic minds

It's nice to even see his face.. haha, he has been very elusive lately.. so much so that we both know exactly where he is going to be everytime we go to see him (asleep) :D

The light was so harsh that day with the sun being low in the sky, this naturally blacked out the background adding drama to the image.. Thanks mate.
